Who is Raymond James? The name of the firm came from a merging of companies run by Robert A. James and Edward Raymond. Raymond James was incorporated as Robert A. James Investments in 1962. In 1964 Raymond and Associates merged into Robert A. James Investments and the firm of Raymond James & Associates was formed. In 1983, Raymond James Financial, the group parent company, emerged in the public stage when RJF sold $14m in shares over-the-counter. RAYMOND JAMES WAS NAMED TOP FULL-SERVICE BROKER IN SMARTMONEY’S 2011 BROKER SURVEY. Raymond James Financial’s first place finish, for the third time in four years, was the result of performing strongly in several categories, including stock picking. The firm also was one of only two full-service brokers surveyed whose model portfolios beat Standard & Poor’s 500 stock index for the year.
RAYMOND JAMES FINANCIAL WAS LISTED AMONG WORLD’S MOST ADMIRED COMPANIES IN FORTUNE MAGAZINE’S 2011 SURVEY. In a global survey that included companies in 32 countries, Raymond James is on the final list of 350 firms. The company ranked fourth among the top securities industry firms recognised. Attributes judged included quality of management, social responsibility, quality of products or services, and financial soundness.
Both of these awards point to the firm’s excellent reputation for client satisfaction and quality. In addition, having pioneered the independent contracting concept in the early 1980’s in the US, RJF today is known for its dedication to serving the needs of affiliated financial advisers and their clients as well as for investment in new technology.
